John Fawkner Private Hospital is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager to join our team within our Critical Care complex. You will play a key role within a supportive team to ensure our patients have a great experience during their care.

About us
John Fawkner Private Hospital is located in the northwest of Melbourne. With 186 registered beds, a 12 cubicle Emergency Department, 4 operating theatres, 12 bed critical care complex and busy Day Procedure Unit the hospital provides a wide range of services to its community. The hospital specialises in orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, oncology, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, ENT and gynaecology.

As a Critical Care Nurse Unit Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing leadership and direction to the Critical Care Team comprising of a 6 bed ICU and 6 bed Coronary Care
• Providing clinical operational direction for the unit to ensure efficient and effective management
• Coordinating the delivery of nursing care that is evidence based
• Ensuring the delivery of excellent patient and family centred care in a team focused environment
• Providing guidance, mentoring and support to your team
• Be accountable for the effective management of human, financial and material resources
• Undertaking direct patient care, as required
• Compliance with ACQSHC National standards

Essential Criteria:

· Current Registration with AHPRA

· Working with Children check

· At least 3 years relevant experience at NUM level or equivalent

· Post Graduate qualification in critical care and experience in an Intensive Care setting

· A strong commitment to developing in a management role

· A management degree or working towards (desirable)

· Demonstrated HR management experience

· Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer focused care

· High degree of computer literacy including MS office and various data bases

· Ability to work cohesively within a team environment
