This is a permanent part-time (0.5FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2024

Ocean Reef Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated Cleaner In Charge (CIC) for appointment to a permanent part-time vacancy to commence Term 3, 2024.

As a team leader, the successful applicant will ideally have good communication and interpersonal skills, including engaging with staff from diverse backgroungs and be a conscientious, reliable worker. You should inspire and lead a team of cleaning staff to ensure the school environment is maintained in accordance with Department of Education policies and procedures.

The successful applicant should have a sound knowledge of cleaning equipment, products and safe cleaning procedures, methods and practices. You will provide on the job induction training for all new cleaning staff, conduct monthly cleaning inspections as well as record and respond to issues and concerns detailed in the communications book.

You will be responsible for opening and closing the school, including setting the security alarm system, carrying out internal cleaning duties, including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting, rubbish removal, and other general cleaning. You will also carry out external cleaning duties, including the cleaning of verandas and covered areas, rubbish removal, cleaning of drinking troughs, window cleaning and removal of cobwebs. Additionally, you will be required to complete vacation cleaning duties, which may include the stripping and sealing of vinyl floors, shampooing of carpets, pressure cleaning of verandas and undercover areas, and other such duties as required.

You will liaise with the Manager Corporate Services on all cleaning matters, maintain the cleaner's timesheets, arrange relief staff, and be responsible for monitoring and ordering stock supplies and stocktake of cleaning resources.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to induct, coordinate and supervise the work of cleaning staff. Experience in school or commercial cleaning. Experience in the safe storage of cleaning equipment, materials and chemicals. Ability to recognise and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment operating instructions, safety instructions and training guidelines.
