Downer acts as the facility manager at The Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH).

The RAH is the largest, busiest and most technologically advanced hospital in Australia with 800 single in-patient rooms, including 100 same-day beds and 80,000 same-day and overnight patient admissions per year.


About The Role


This hands-on position will draw on your previous cleaning experience as you play a key role in providing an efficient service to a very high standard across the hospital.

You will need to be available to work at least one of these work patterns:
Tues, wed and Thurs 09:30-17:30
OR Mon, Thurs and Fri 09:30-17:30

Your main duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide a hygienic environment for patients, visitors and staff at the RAH
  • Undertaking duties such as floor care, dusting, damp wiping and spot cleaning of doors, internal glass, bathrooms & toilets, fixture, fittings & vents
  • Learning to undertake specialist cleaning duties such as infectious or forensic cleans in both reactive and scheduled cleans
  • Assisting with waste management duties including collection and disposal of different waste streams
  • Following specific work schedules and work instructions
  • Maintaining proper disinfection and sanitisation of all areas.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will hold the below skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in a cleaning or waste related role
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment or hospital is highly desirable
  • An understanding of cleaning/infection control procedures and protocols
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and strong initiative
  • Displays competency in the reading and writing of English to enable required duties to be performed safely and to acceptable levels
  • Sound time management and organisational skills
