As a Social worker with Student Support Services you will be required to work as part of a multidisciplinary Area-based team to build the capabilities of schools to support children and young people to access their education.

You will provide a range of professional advice and support to principals, school staff and school communities that will enhance the learning, development and wellbeing of students, particularly those who are most vulnerable.

You will have highly developed communication, networking and interpersonal skills that enable you to liaise effectively with a range of people in the education community and beyond.

In the social work position you will contribute to the capacity/capability building related to student learning, engagement and wellbeing consistent with the priorities of the Bayside Peninsula Area.

You will also support the establishment and strengthening of links and referral pathways between relevant departments, community services and organisation to optimise support for vulnerable children, young people and their families.

The purpose of Student Support Services is to assist children and young people facing a range of barriers to learning to achieve their educational and developmental potential through the provision of a range of strategies and specialised support at individual, group, school and network levels.

Student Support Services comprise a broad range of professionals including psychologists, speech pathologists, social workers.

Student Support Services staff work as part of an integrated health and wellbeing team within networks of schools, focusing on providing group-based and individual support, workforce capability building, and the provision of specialised services.

Student Support Services (SSS) do vital work in supporting students' health and wellbeing - particularly our most vulnerable students - and SSS are critical to building an excellent education system that reduces the impact of disadvantage
This position will be based in the Bayside Peninsula Area, initially at the Bentleigh office. This is a full time fixed term position.
Supervision and peer support is available within the team.
