Apprentice Primary Function:

During the course of the apprenticeship, the Apprentice works as a part of a team of qualified tradesmen performing skilled, high-quality installation, repair, construction, and maintenance to the overhead and underground power networks while assisting qualified tradespeople during the apprenticeship.

Minimum Position Requirements:

• Minimum age of 17 years
• Sound Mathematical and English skills
• Valid Driver's License "C" Class unrestricted
• Current National Police Clearance
• OH&S Construction Safety Induction White Card
• Is a selfstarter, motivated and eager to learn and develop
• Is committed to working hard, often in remote and regional locations, working up to 12 hours per day on a variety of rosters of which can be up to 3 weeks on 1 week off
• Respects safety and takes precautions to maintain a safe working environment
• Values the opportunity to be mentored by a diverse team with a variety of skills and experiences
• Takes pride in delivering a high standard and quality of work
• Has good vision and handeye coordination with a strong attention to detail
• Can maintain excellent organisational skills while adhering to deadlines and effectively working under pressure
• Be able to make good decisions and use good judgement when making them
• Maintain a good attendance record and is punctual
• Maintains a high level of communication including active listening skills
• Is a team player and acts with strong integrity
• Has sound Computer skills

Position Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Learn and develop ESI Distribution/Transmission Linesperson trade skills to support the completion of Certificate III Apprenticeship
• Attend and successfully complete all technical training provided by Registered Training Organisation in accordance with apprenticeship requirements and within the designated contractual time frame
• Accurately complete the appropriate electronic or hardcopy apprenticeship work logbook in a timely manner, no less than quarterly
• Complete tasks as instructed by the designated manager, supervisor, or leading tradesperson, whilst under the supervision of a qualified Linesperson always
• Demonstrate competency against specific technical units appropriate to year level
• Provide support to the Linespersons in installing, maintaining, and repairing overhead or underground electrical powerlines, joining power cables, signal cables and equipment associated with distribution systems and ensuring system reliability
