The opportunity:


Due to the continuous success of our Australian operations, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a
Commercial Executive to support our pipeline of opportunities within Queensland and beyond.


Working closely with the Pre-Contracts Commercial Director - Major Projects, you will play a pivotal role in the pre-contract activities on our major contracts, as well as provide ongoing commercial support during the delivery phase of our large infrastructure design projects.

What you'll do:

  • Work closely with our business group leaders, inhouse legal, risk assessment and pricing teams to support the precontract activities on our major projects.
  • Maintain strong relationships with project/pursuit managers, advocate compliance to WSP governance practices and promote best practice principles.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of contractual risk identification, mitigation, and negotiation skills across a range of different forms of contract.
  • Ability to communicate contractual principles and risks to project managers, proposal managers and broader businesses.
  • Development of documentation as required for internal approval processes.
  • Involvement in the coordination of the project startup and hand over phase of successful opportunities.
  • Assist to develop a high level of commercial awareness within the business.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of commercial and financial risk management procedures.
  • Provide guidance/understanding on the financial implications of bid/project decisions.
  • To achieve high levels of collaboration and consistency in the commercial deliverables and performance of the business.

About you:

  • Background of experience working on large engineering infrastructure projects with a good understanding of the design perspective.
  • Experienced in precontact negotiations for tender and delivery phase design services with large and small contractors with the ability to obtain a mutual beneficial commercial outcome.
  • Experienced in commercial contract management including, financial reporting, variation claims, extensions of time claims, project delivery risk and opportunity as well as the ability to manage contractor claim responses.
  • Ideally at least 5 years experience in a similar role coupled with significant practical experience working on the delivery of major infrastructure projects.
