The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Product Engineer tojoin our Advances Controls R&D team at Rydalmere.

The Product Engineer – Advanced Controls is an activemember of a small team that is developing new electronic controlsand communication devices for use in our water heatingproducts.

Daily tasks will be to:

  • Validate designs through prototyping, testing, recording& assessment of results.
  • Estimate and define validation steps within the validationfunction of the project. Ensure project milestones aremet.
  • Ensure that product designs comply with all relevantstandards and approval requirements.
  • Monitor and control Life test experiments over life of theproduct.
  • Provide design engineering support, in order to reduceproduction costs, and to improve reliability, quality andperformance.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of thetechnologies related to water heating products.
  • Establish testing methods and Test platforms to carry outtesting accordingly.
  • Ensure that test platform, instruments and equipment areavailable to enable the execution of laboratory testing.
  • Manage capital appropriations for investment in equipmentrequired to perform research and development work.
  • Carry out comparative testing on competitor'sproducts.
  • Prepare reports and provide recommendations for actionsaccording to time schedules and constraints of each project,for senior management review.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Computer literacy, including experience in the use of solidmodelling, SAP, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in writing work instructions.
  • Experience in water heater technology (advantage).
  • Experience with the use of mechanical equipment to maketest jigs.
  • Experience with electrical/electronic design.
  • Experience with Inventor CAD design package (orequivalent).
  • Experience working with Australian Standards as aregulatory framework
