Role Details

As a Cellar Door Assistant, you will passionately deliver an exceptional wine experience to visitors at the Banrock Station Wine and Wetland Centre.

Your Key Accountabilities

• Deliver a complete customer experience to wine centre patrons including tourists, locals and industry participants
• Conduct wine tastings and sales
• Prepare and serve barista coffees and light refreshments
• Operate the cash register, including daily opening, closing and balancing duties
• Promote wine club membership to visitors and sign new members
• Undertake daily housekeeping duties to maintain the wine centre appearance
• Clean and hand polish tasting glasses
• Restock the wine centre and stock room
• Pick, pack and dispatch wine orders for customers
• Set up and pack down for events
• Provide beverage service at events
• Register visitors for walking trails
• Provide visitors with an overview of Banrock Station's environmental programs

Other Accountabilities Include

• Other duties as required.

Your Knowledge and Skills

• A genuine interest in wine
• Highly developed customer service skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced people engagement skills and the ability to "tell a story"
• Basic computer skills
• Knowledge of cash register use and cash handling
• Coffee-making skills (desirable)
• Knowledge of safe food preparation and handling (desirable)

Required Experience:

• Experience in a customer facing role is essential
• Cellar door and/or hospitality experience is highly desirable

Essential Qualifications

• Responsible Service of Alcohol training (RSA) essential

Physical and Other Requirements

This role involves:

• Moderate frequency of lifting heavy objects
• Frequent manual handling of glassware for polishing

This role requires that you:

• Have neat presentation and take pride in your appearance
• Are flexible to work weekends and public holidays as rostered
• Have enthusiasm for learning about Banrock Station products, the winemaking process and the wetland environment
