Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform all preventative maintenance functions in line with the engineering plan;
  • Assemble and install new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools and controls, and hydraulic/pneumatic power systems;
  • Respond to breakdowns on the floor in a timely and efficient manner;
  • Troubleshoot faults and analyse equipment failures to recommend solutions to minimise downtime;
  • Communicate with production personnel to ensure expectations are being met;
  • Utilise MEX for accurate and thorough record keeping and ordering as required;
  • Maintain the work areas in a clean and tidy condition, removing rubbish and storing equipment and tools as required;
  • Support Engineering Technicians Manager or 2IC;
  • Relieve the Engineering Technicians Manager or 2IC as and when required;
  • Provide assistance to staff in other areas in case of emergencies, breakdown, etc.; and
  • Any other tasks as directed by the Engineering Technicians Manager or the Grading Floor Manager.

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical engineering principles and maintenance, with relevant tertiary education and/or experience;
  • Minimum 3 years mechanical engineering experience;
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment is not essential, but would be highly regarded;
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fastpaced, deadlineoriented environment;
  • Ability to work cooperatively with workers of all levels and abilities;
  • Strong communication skills, ability to write reports and correspondence, ability to speak clearly and effectively with internal and external contacts;
  • Strong emphasis on accuracy to ensure a consistently high quality of work;

Base salary range:
$62, $72, superannuation

You may be required to work reasonable overtime to meet operational demands. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and a pre-employment functional capacity evaluation.

You must not have any birds, pigs or poultry at your place of residence.
