Allship Engineering's mission is to provide exceptional project management, trade labour, design, parts and materials to Defence Marine, Commercial Marine and Commercial Clients within Australia.


At Allship Engineering, an Apprentice Boilermaker will receive practical training underpinned by a Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking/welding) delivered by TAFE NSW.

Allship Engineering will pay for your TAFE course, and by the completion of your apprenticeship you will have the following additional qualifications:

  • CPPFES2005A
  • Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment

  • Enter and Work in Confined Spaces
On completion of your apprenticeship, you will have the knowledge and skill set to perform the following technical tasks competently:

  • Operate workshop machines such as a drill press and cropper
  • Operate hand and power tools
  • Manual metal arc welding
  • Thermal cutting
  • Use precision measuring equipment
  • Read, understand, and produce technical drawings
  • Read, understand, and utilise risk assessment tools
  • Read, understand, and complete task packs
  • Conduct equipment inspections

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend all formal training as agreed to by yourself, your employer, and training institution

Under the supervision of a qualified Tradesperson:

  • Perform fabrication tasks as directed by your immediate supervisor
  • Conduct equipment inspections
  • Read and understand Task Packs, inclusive of Inspection Test Plans (ITP's) and Safe Work Method Statement's (SWMS)
  • Use hand and power tools
  • Use metalworking machinery
  • Produce and interpret technical drawings
  • Use appropriate measuring techniques
  • Use diagnostic skills to identify and determine causes of faults
  • Translate designs into practical outcomes
  • Perform various welding processes
  • Repair, replace, and modify fabrications
  • Shape and fabricate parts
  • Comply with client and site requirements
  • Attend pre-start and toolbox meetings
  • At all times, do all that is reasonably practicable to ensure your own safety, and the safety of people around you
  • Ensure worksites are clean, safe, and ready for use
  • Develop an understanding of work site procedures and permits
  • Foster and develop harmonious relationships with clients and fellow employees
  • Complete annual awareness training
  • Perform ancillary tasks such as Fire Sentry or Confined Space Sentry.

RECRUITMENT & SELECTION PROCESS

  • Hold a Provisional (P plates) drivers' licence
  • Hold a Construction White Card (CPCCWHS1001)
  • C grades in year 10 English and Maths or higher.
- up to five years of work experience if completed
- two-character references
