About the team:

Australian resources are essential for Australia to reach net zero emissions by 2050.


Managers in Minerals and Resources Division lead a team to provide advice on policy, improvement of regulatory systems and appropriate program responses.

They work closely with the minerals and resources sector, they work across governments at all levels, and they optimise the posture of our country in international fora.

A priority is to improve our cultural capability so that our work benefits First Nations people.

Our division has a national footprint, and we will consider applicants from all locations across Australia.

There are multiple positions available including policy advice to


grow national prosperity, support First Nations engagement and cultural heritage protection, promote gender equality and maintain environmental, social and governance Australia's critical mineral sector, enabling Australia to help meet global climate challenges of the 21st century, as well as building Australia's manufacturing capability and regional growth.- support policy to drive the global transition towards net zero through the provision of advice and analysis regarding emissions in the resources sector, abatement technologies and transition pathways.

An understanding of the resources sector, including technical and scientific knowledge would be desirable but not required.

What you will do:

Minerals and Resources Division is looking for a variety of Managers.

EL2 duties in this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading teams, mentoring and nurturing junior staff and supporting your senior executive to deliver meaningful policy advice
  • Leading policy analysis and implementation on diverse and changeable topics
  • Engaging with First Nations peoples in a culturally sensitive manner
  • Leading stakeholder consultation across government and with external stakeholders
  • Understanding of rigorous governance and risk management
  • Undertaking horizon scanning to prepare the Division for future policy issues
