Job Description:

Who are you?
You will bring an entrepreneurial and strategic mindset and great leadership skills.

You will also be a creative strategist with excellent organisational and big picture thinking abilities, while balancing the hard work and detailed focus required to successfully raise the funds needed to achieve our vision.


You will have a deep understanding of the nuances required to inspire potential donors and partners to support Smiling Mind - whether that be our community donors or significant foundational support from individuals or organisations as well as a strong track record in building positive relationships with key trusts and foundation.


Responsibilities of the role:

The role is responsible for developing and executing our Fundraising and Partnerships Strategy to drive long-term sustainability.

This role forms a key component of our Growth Function, including Commercial and Marketing, which together drive the overall revenue and reach focus for Smiling Mind.

This role is a leadership role within Smiling Mind and you will be working closely with our senior leaders. You will lead a team of four as well as a range of external agency providers.

Key responsibilities are outlined below:

  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive and coherent fundraising strategy for the organisation, encompassing trusts and foundations, philanthropy, corporate partnerships and CSR and communitybased fundraising activity
  • Achieve fundraising targets via proactive and strategic delivery of the fundraising strategy
  • Work closely with the marketing and communications team to develop meaningful and impactful messaging and campaigns to take people on a journey from understanding our impact through to driving donations
  • Ensure key messages of preventative mental health are communicated effectively with donors, funders, supporters, and partners to demonstrate our impact.
  • Establish network of contacts in fundraising, trusts and foundations and high net worth supporters and continue to build this network.


You will be expected to use initiative to get the job done, will be challenged to perform at your very best, and in return get the opportunity to learn from inspiring and skilled team members achieving life changing results for our community.

We all roll up our sleeves to get work done at Smiling Mind and to be successful in this role you'll not only need to do just that but also think strategically and long term - so understanding how to work at both levels is really important.

PLEASE NOTE - this role is initially a 24 month contract position.

Qualifications:

You've got:

  • Proven experience as Head of Fundraising or other relevant role
  • Proven experience in sales and/or marketing and managing relationships with key donors / clients / partners
  • Experience working with a Not-ForProfit
  • Excellent fundraising skills (Major gifts, Trusts and Foundations and Community fundraising)
  • Excellent corporate partnership skills and ability to develop compelling proposals
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes
  • Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset
  • Ability to build and foster strategic relationships (internal and external)
  • Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills
