What you will do
Primary Purpose

The Primary purpose of this position is to undertake dispatch and warehousing activities to ensure that all incoming materials are stored, picked, transported and available for use by the production department as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • To follow the directions of the Warehouse Team Leader(s) and / or Supervisor.
  • Operate a forklift to load, move or transport stock within the warehouse and production areas
  • Pick Orders using an Order picking forklift
  • Unload Shipping containers using a forklift
  • Manually pick parts and load trolleys for transport to production.
  • Use a hoist/ crane to move heavy items.
  • To transport picked stock to the Production facility using tow buggies/ forklifts etc.
  • Operate a computer to check orders, stock availability, missing parts etc
  • General Housekeeping within the warehouse
  • A Storeperson may also take on additional voluntary roles within the team e.g Team Safety Volunteer, Team Quality Representative etc.
  • Other general Warehousing duties as determined by the Team Leader and/or Supervisor.

  • To comply with the site EBA, Relevant Award(s) and all company policies and procedures.
  • To participate in onsite training & development activities relevant to the position.
  • To assess manual handling risks and identify suitable control measures (e.g two person lift or use of lifting equipment) and monitor the ongoing effectiveness of the controls.
  • To work in a safe way, ensuring personal safety & that of fellow workers.
  • To wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment designated by the company policies
  • To ensure housekeeping (5S) procedures are followed at all times.
  • To liaise effectively with other team members and other teams as required.
  • To treat all employees with respect & dignity in accordance with the company code of conduct
  • To report and action any safety and environmental incidents with the Team Leader(s).
  • To ensure compliance with VCVA's Environmental Policy, Workplace Health & Safety requirements, and in general take any reasonable steps and precautions to protect or minimise harm to the workplace, its employees, and the environment
Risk Management and Compliance

  • Manage risk and compliance in area, including ongoing identification of material risks
  • Monitor and ensure adequate risk management and compliance processes are in place

Who are you?
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Qualifications

  • Current licence as per job role allocation (LF and LO)
  • Certificate III Warehouse & Distribution (Transport & Storage) preferred but not essential
Business skills & attributes

  • Basic numeracy/ literacy skills
  • Basic computer skills and/or a willingness to learn
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions & procedures
  • Experience within a Warehouse/ Despatch environment including order picking (preferred)
  • Experience in the manufacturing and/or heavy vehicle industry an advantage
