Who are we looking for?

Our Northern Australia Business is currently looking for a hard-working and passionate Graduate Structural Engineer to join our Mackay/Cairns team. Our team is close-knit, and you will be an integral member supporting the team in delivering projects across a range of clients.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for final year, or recently graduated students from Structural Engineering.

In this position in our Building Engineering Team, Mackay, North Queensland, as a graduate Structural engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and tasks related to structural engineering. Your specific responsibilities will depend on the projects and teams you are assigned to, but here are some common areas of work that a graduate structural engineer might be involved in at GHD:

Assisting experienced engineers in the design, analysis, and evaluation of various structural systems, including buildings, bridges, and infrastructure. Utilizing advanced engineering software and tools for modelling, simulations, and structural analysis. Conducting site visits and inspections to gather critical data for engineering assessments. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the integration of structural solutions within overall project plans. Preparing detailed technical reports, drawings, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrating a proactive and results-driven attitude, embracing new challenges, and continuously learning from seasoned professionals.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field, with a strong focus on structural analysis and design. Strong academic record, showcasing your commitment to applying engineering principles to real-world structural challenges. Proficiency in engineering software such as ETABS, SAP2000, or similar structural analysis and design tools. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling effective collaboration within a team environment. A proactive and results-driven attitude, with a willingness to take on new challenges and learn from experienced mentors. Must be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident eligible to obtain citizenship.

Preferred:

Proficiency in additional structural engineering software such as Revit, Tekla Structures, or similar BIM tools. Strong analytical skills, enabling you to tackle complex structural engineering problems with innovative solutions. Demonstrated organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail in project documentation and reporting. A collaborative and team-oriented approach, working effectively with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders.

What does the rest of GHD's process look like?

Once we receive your application, it will be reviewed by one of our Talent Acquisition team members who manage each of our regions. From there, the rest of our recruitment process includes:

A Video Interview, where you'll get the chance to introduce yourself and make another positive impression on both our TA team and hiring managers. Formal interviews, either in person or via MS Teams. Prior to our interview we'll also ask you to go through some online testing through one of our providers, Saville.
