About the role
Do you have a passion for the environment and want to share your passion with the community?


As Environment Support Officer you will be part of the Environment and Sustainability, Education and Awareness team responsible for supporting community volunteer groups and programs, workshops, activations and events within the City.


Your main focus will be supporting environmental volunteers, staffing at the Queens Park Environmental Education Centre and the delivery of environmental education programs.


Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Support volunteers to ensure best practice in volunteer management and sustainability of programs
  • Participate in the upkeep of the volunteer management database; Better Impact, and support required training and familiarisation programs for volunteers
  • Undertake general administration to facilitate the delivery of Environmental programs, workshops and events onsite and in the field
  • Support community partnerships to enhance the City's nature conservation and public green space values
  • Maintain partnerships with volunteer groups according to best practice guidelines to achieve integrated outcomes across the Department, Council, and communitywide
  • Assist in the coordination of volunteers for the purpose of them facilitating environmental and educational activities to support the wider team
  • Deliver environmental and resource recovery educational programs to members of the public
  • Perform any other duties that are reasonably within the competency, skills and training of the incumbent as may be directed from time to time by the position's supervisor

About you
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Working with Children Check
  • Issue of Blue Card and Positive Notice Letter (issued by the Queensland Government) or Exemption Card, or ability to obtain one
  • Current Queensland C class driver's licence
  • The ability to work some weekends and identified public holidays when required

This is a casual position, Level 2 with a salary commencing at $43.91 per hour plus superannuation of up to 12.5%.
