About Us:


For more than 165 years we have been providing practical and compassionate support to people across Victoria whose daily struggles can include putting food on the table, paying essential utilities and ensuring their children remain at school to obtain an education.


Under our Soup Vans program, our dedicated team of volunteers has delivered more than 750,000 meals annually in rain, hail or shine.

Volunteers provide soup, sandwiches, fruit and other food and drinks at public locations advertised on our website, as well as boarding and rooming houses, crisis accommodation, social housing and other residential locations.

Currently operating from Footscray, the Inner City, Dandenong, Melton, Berwick and Traralgon; our service is developing and expanding.

About the Role:

As the Soup Van Coordinator, you will provide support and resourcing for the Soup Van Program across Victoria.

The position is responsible for the smooth running of the Soup Van Program, ensuring all volunteers are inducted safely and efficiently, food and vehicle safety regulations are met, training materials are regularly updated, and volunteer compliance is monitored and maintained.


The role will be based onsite supporting the Soup Van operations, with visits to Central Office or other Soup Van locations in Melbourne as required.


Key Accountabilities include:

  • Implementing team plans that support the delivery of highquality service to individuals accessing the Soup Van program;
  • Supporting the Soup Van Leaders to build a cohesive and engaged team;
  • Assisting in the induction and coaching of volunteers;
  • Monitoring/auditing Soup Van vehicles, equipment and facilities;
  • Supporting the Soup Van Operations Team in developing and implementing exciting new projects and initiatives.

More Specifically You Will Have:

  • Flexibility to work varied hours and locations;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Welfare or equivalent (_highly regarded);_
  • Demonstrated and/or working knowledge of working with and supporting volunteer teams_ (highly regarded);_
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office products i.e. Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and data management;
  • Demonstrated and/or working knowledge of assisting people experiencing disadvantage and marginalisation;
  • Strong attention to detail with an audit/quality focus;
  • Exceptional people, coaching and influencing skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong organisational skills.
