Role Summary:

The Engineering Manager is a newly created opportunity based at Perth CBD Office.


The Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the technical landscape of Synergy in the DER and renewable energy sector.

This role is responsible for developing, reviewing, and managing technical standards and specifications, supporting the design and review of technical solutions, and providing thought leadership to ensure Synergy delivers its strategic objectives.


Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Technical Solutions: Accountable for review and due diligence of innovative technical solutions across the lifecycle of DER and renewable assets. This includes all aspects related to electrical, control and power system aspects.
  • DER: Accountable for the design of DER technical solutions to ensure they meet Customer, Market and Network requirements.
  • Technical Standards and Specifications: Develop, review and manage technical standards and specifications for DER, VPP and renewable assets, ensuring compliance with industry best practice and regulations.
  • WEM and

Technical Rules:

Maintain a deep understanding of the Western Australia Energy Market and Technical rules, ensuring compliance and leading relevant changes to support integration of DER and renewables in the power system.


What you'll bring:

  • Engineering Degree qualification with demonstrated experience in the Energy sector on delivering complex solutions.
  • 10+ years' experience in an electrical or control engineering position performing an engineering role within the electricity industry
  • Technical and market knowledge of various renewable electrical generation types, e.g. residential/commercialscale solar and battery storage, and associated monitoring, control and platform technology
  • Knowledge of power system operations, capabilities and integration and WA energy experience including WEM rules and technical rules
  • Experience developing engineering standards and process documentation
