You're welcome at RASA

Our belief in the transformative power of relationships lies at the heart of everything we do.
You will be joining an inclusive, supportive and welcoming culture. Relationships Australia South Australia (RASA) Values are Diversity, Respect, Belonging and Learning and this is reflected in the way we work and treat each other. Our teams embrace people from a wide range of cultures, backgrounds, beliefs, sexual and gender identities. We understand that your relationships are important, so we believe in being flexible, where possible, to support you to balance your work and personal commitments.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a dedicated Children's Practitioner to join our team at RASA. In this role, you will provide direct therapeutic services to children experiencing parental separation. You will deliver one-on-one counselling, therapeutic groups, and educational programs tailored to their needs. Collaborating with our post-separation, relationship education, and counselling services, you will help develop program methodologies, establish referral and shared case management strategies, and, where appropriate, implement a whole family approach. A crucial part of your role will involve establishing effective referral pathways with external children's services, including mental health providers, schools, and community programs for young people.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification (AQF level 7) in Psychology, Social Work, Family Therapy or Counselling.
  • A sophisticated understanding of Family and Domestic Violence and the relevant safety responses.
  • Skills in undertaking child-centred assessment and screening of risk and resilience with families, delivering casework and counselling interventions and evaluating outcomes.

It would be a bonus if you have:

  • Demonstrated experience in working with children.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and culturally diverse clients.
  • Experience in Family Law and Post Separation.
  • Experience in working with families in crisis or experiencing domestic violence.
  • Understanding of the effects of trauma on children and adults.

What you will be doing

  • Contribute to a RASA-wide iKids team.
  • Conduct whole-of-family, child-centred needs assessments, develop case plans, and deliver direct client interventions including information, casework, counselling, and referrals under general direction from senior employees.
  • Assist with the coordination of projects, implementation, and administration related to client service delivery.
  • Help design and develop web-based support and resources for parenting and children's development.
  • Contribute to community engagement.
  • Record all case work and data collection on the client information system and DSS Exchange in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively to establish effective referrals, improve case work strategies, and participate in learning and supervision.
  • Support efficient and accountable service by contributing to program planning, program quality, and client evaluation.
  • Participate in regular supervision and attend iKids group supervision.

If you are passionate about supporting children through challenging times and excel at building relationships, we would love to hear from you.
