Join a global mine operator on a rolling contract basis, offering an industry-leading hourly rate. This position as an Electrical Project Engineer presents an exciting opportunity to oversee various electrical surface infrastructure projects on a mine site in Australia's Bowen Basin.

About the Role:

As an Electrical Project Engineer, you'll play a vital role in the relocation of surface infrastructure assets. Reporting to the Project Manager, your responsibilities include overseeing the relocation of a high voltage power line and substation, as well as ensuring the electrification of a processing plant aligns with project timelines. From testing and commissioning to breakdown recovery, you'll manage all aspects of the assets to ensure operational efficiency and safety.

Key Duties:

  • Develop and execute high voltage switching programs, isolations, and permits.
  • Maintain and test HV and LV switchgear, cabling, and transformers.
  • Conduct protection relay secondary injection and testing.
  • Diagnose faults and lead recovery efforts.
  • Uphold safety standards and drive project success within budget constraints.
  • Organising and controlling project elements including the ongoing reporting of project progress
  • Liaising with external, suppliers and internal company stakeholders
  • Finding efficient and effective solutions for problems as they arise on a project

Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Background in heavy industry, electrical power lines, and processing plants.
  • Academic qualifications in Electrical Engineering from a reputable institution.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to foster a positive, high-performing work culture.
  • Well-developed communication skills - both verbal and written
  • High attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills.
