Full training will be provided for you to perform the following in your role.

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Support operations by providing best practice in the preparation and presentation of deceased persons
  • Provide mortuary services in the time frames necessary for viewings and funerals in accordance with InvoCare policies, procedures and quality standards as well as Occupational Health, Safety and Injury Management requirements
  • Assist with embalming as part of training, as required
  • Successful participation and completion of the Certificate IV in Funeral Services (Embalming) via distance education, in your own time and through workplace mentoring
  • Perform body preparation procedures such as manoeuvring, lifting, washing, dressing, suturing and setting facial features for all cases to InvoCare standards and follow workplace procedures for hygiene and infection control
  • Encoffin and present the deceased to InvoCare standards and according to family requests
  • Handle deceased with dignity, care and respect at all times
  • Accurately complete mortuary registration and checking procedures
  • Maintain clean and sterile mortuary facilities and equipment
  • Perform coffin/casket trimming and engraving
  • Organise time efficiently and monitor daily workflow
  • Monitor stock levels and order as directed
  • Participate in daytoday operational tasks such as attending funerals, transfers, viewings, driving vehicles, and keeping work areas clean and tidy
  • Selfdirected learning and study through distance education, often in your own time

Skills and experience required for this role include:

  • An understanding of the funeral service industry and its operations, or the ability to rapidly acquire industry knowledge
  • Desire to pursue formal qualifications in Embalming for long term career goals
  • Current driver's license
  • Ability to undertake selfdirected study, in your own time after hours while employed full time
  • Receptive to on the job mentoring, direction and training to work as part of a wider team
