Key Outcomes and Accountabilities

The aim of this role is to:

  • Lead and manage a high performing team with view to:
  • Monitoring and reporting on team performance
  • Track the provision of team support, training and assistance.
  • Assist in developing the organisational plans and budget.
  • Identify and recommend solutions to significant mechanical issues where required.
  • Provide advice and mediate between contractors and consumers to resolve disputes relating to mechanical building works and provide recommendations postdetailed inspection and test procedures have been conducted.
  • Provide expert technical advice to consumers, internal customers, stakeholders and industry groups relating to mechanical services work.
  • Respond to complaints, and research, review, analyse and prepare mechanical technical reports and statements for disciplinary proceedings and research and analyse mechanical evident to ensure the QBCC is risk free and defensible.
  • Provide effective mentoring to staff including managing staff performance and building and uplifting team capability as required.
  • Understand and promote the organisations vision, values and mission (business objectives, budget and behaviours) to promote the Queensland Building and Construction Commission as a department and employer of choice.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial mechanical installations to a high level of compliance and workmanship.
  • Queensland restricted (Refrigeration Trade) Electrical Trade Licence
  • Refrigeration/airconditioning Trade qualification Certificate
  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or equivalent through knowledge and experience).
  • Work safely in the Construction Industry (White Card)
  • Current Queensland Drivers Licence (Class C
  • Motor Vehicle)
  • Demonstrated ability in conducting and managing complex mechanical inspections, providing recommendations and resolutions to achieve key organisational objectives and outcomes.
  • High level experience in developing, implementing, and managing organisational improvement in the workplace with relation to mechanical process and efficiencies including knowledge and understanding of mechanical safety legislation, codes of practice and managing risks in the workplace.
  • Proven leadership and management skills including the demonstrated ability to provide guidance to high performing teams, make recommendations to key internal stakeholders and industry bodies as required.
  • Highly developed written and interpersonal communication skills including comprehensive report writing skills, negotiation skills and the ability to be adaptable to varying audiences as required.
