About the Role


As the Early Childhood Educator (Qualified), you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to meet the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of individuals and groups of children in line with high-quality standard of care and the Children's Services Act 1996, Children's Services regulations 2011, The National Quality framework (NQF), Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Victorian Early Years Learning and Development (VELYLD) and the Centre's philosophy and mission statement.

You will plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate programs for individuals and groups of children in conjunction with other staff.

You will build and maintain close relationships with parents/guardians of the children in the Centre, through constant communication, to meet the needs of individual families.

To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:

  • A Diploma or equivalent (recognised by ACECQA) in Early Childhood Education.
  • A current Level II First Aid Certificate, including CPR.
  • Anaphylaxis and asthma training.
  • A current Working with Children Check.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Services regulations 2011, The National Quality framework (NQF), Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Victorian Early Years Learning and Development (VELYLD).
  • Significant experience in developing and undertaking programme planning.
  • Relevant experience in a long day care setting.
  • A thorough knowledge of children's development and ability to observe, plan, implement and evaluate developmentally appropriate children's programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to co-operatively contribute to and support a team environment and to work flexibly, both within rooms and according to the needs of the Centre.
  • Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively and respect families from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and religious backgrounds.
About the Children's Centre


The centre is located on Lygon street, Carlton, and features four floors, with outdoor play areas for the children at each level, as well as a rooftop play area.


The Centre is comprised of five rooms:
Wombat Room: 3-18 months- Wallaby Room : 12 months-2 years- Echidna Room : 2-3 years-
Sugar Glider Room: 3-4 years includes 3 year old kindergarten- Koala Room : 4-5 years includes 4 year old kindergarten


Our program enables the children to learn and develop skills through the process of exploration within an educationally play-based curriculum.

We aim to provide an encouraging environment that is supportive and safe.

Our aim is to work as a partnership with our families integrating our diverse cultures, backgrounds, beliefs and attitudes in our community.

The Centre offers a daily Kindergarten program for children who turn four on or before 30 April.
