About the role

The position will lead ecological planning and strategy for the exciting Prom Sanctuary Project, provide scientific and technical advice to project staff and other staff across the organisation, seek and assess external advice on proposals and work with internal and external partners in the development of ecological plans and strategy.


We're looking for someone with:

  • Tertiary degree in ecology, environmental science, or environmental management or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing delivery plans and longerterm strategies to achieve ecological outcomes and restore temperate ecosystems in Australia.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience to analyse and interpret ecological information and to understand and communicate their implications for environmental management.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships and to work as part of a multidisciplinary team as well as independently.
  • A current Resume

About the Branch

The Prom Sanctuary Unit, in the Office of the Chief Scientist Conservation and Climate Action, leads development of the Wilsons Promontory Sanctuary Program.

The Unit works with the Environment and Science Division and Eastern Victoria operations teams to implement ecological and strategic planning to guide delivery of on-ground conservation outcomes and provide strategic planning for the program.

The Unit works with the Department of Environment Land Water and Planning and other government agencies on environmental conservation policy, funding needs and program delivery.

The Wilsons Promontory Sanctuary program aims to create a world-class climate change refuge that is free from introduced species, providing a safe haven for Victoria's wildlife.
