About the role

We are seeking a dedicated AOF Support Worker. The Accommodation Options for Families (AOF) programs operates within the Victoria Division of The Salvation Army Australia Territory (TSA).

AOF is a government funded program aimed specifically to provide support and accommodation options to families who are homeless or at risk of residing in rooming houses or other unsuitable accommodation.


The role of the AOF Support Worker is to utilize case management models to provide direct service delivery to families who are homeless and/or are at risk of residing in rooming houses or other unsuitable accommodation through securing long-term affordable housing.

The Program outreaches to the LGA's of Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Wyndham and Melton and Moonee Valley.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist families to acquire long term, stable accommodation upon exiting crisis accommodation
  • Assist families in securing longterm support options to sustain housing
  • Ensure the effective support and case management of families residing in Transitional Housing Management (THM) properties
  • Provide case management support to ensure family's needs are addressed
  • Families are provided with a rapid response to address their immediate housing and support needs
  • Alleviate the risk of tenancy failure
  • Families will have improved wellbeing and quality of life
  • Assist families to have increased selfefficacy seeking support
This is a permanent part-time position, (22.8 hours per week), based in Sunshine, VIC. The AOF program is part of The Western Metro Homelessness Service, situated in Sunshine. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 5.

What you will bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or related community service field
  • Experienced with working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities
  • Demonstrates knowledge of homelessness including context, causes, issues, philosophies and legislation
  • Understands and applies homelessness models, approaches, theories and practices when dealing with clients
  • Ability to understand and respond to the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness
  • National Police Record Check
  • Working with Children's Check
  • Victorian Drivers Licence
