Reporting to the EM, Product & Service, the Head of Commercial Performance is responsible for developing and leading the short, medium and long term commercial strategy for global catering, Lounges and large scale global FMCG contracts (for example coffee, tea, spirits, champagne).


This includes owning the Qantas Group commercial relationship with all 3rd party catering and Lounge suppliers, ensuring best practice by leading the strategic framework for managing third party contracts, as well as, the ongoing management of catering and Lounge commercial performance.

The role requires the ability to navigate complex internal and external stakeholder groups, the ability to minimise commercial spend without compromise to the catering and Lounge product and service; and the ability to successfully lead and manage a team to deliver on the overall outcomes of the Product & Service business

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Tertiary level or equivalent qualifications in one or more of finance, commerce, law, supply chain management; or comparable experience
  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience in procurement, commercial strategy, contract management or finance
  • Extensive experience in strategic commercial partnership development and management
  • Highly numerate
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and utilising commercial performance management systems
  • Demonstrated experience working in or with sales and distribution functions
  • Appreciation of the global airline competitive landscape
  • Exceptional inter-personal and written communication capacity, including an ability to distil and articulate complex strategic arguments
  • Highly organised

Highly desirable:

  • Experience in customer strategy, airline operations
  • Experience in hotels, hospitality or large scale customer service leadership
  • Experience in and/or strong understanding of multicultural business practice and engagement styles
