QIMR Berghofer is a world-leading translational medical research institute focused on improving health by developing new diagnostics, better treatments and prevention strategies, specifically in the areas of Cancer, Infection and Inflammation, Mental Health and Neuroscience, and Population Health.

Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, QIMR Berghofer is home to more than 600 scientists, students and non-research staff.


About the Leukaemia Metabolism Laboratory:

Role Purpose / Responsibilities:

The role will suit an individual who can demonstrate experience in:

  • maintaining multiple inbred, transgenic and knockout mouse colonies to ensure genetic integrity, breeding and maintenance of stock
- genotyping and phenotyping of mice by PCR
- helping within the laboratory with regard to tissue collection, cell preparation and transplantation
- administration of drugs by oral gavage, subcutaneous, intraperitoneal or intravenous injection
- general lab maintenance and organisation

About you:

The successful applicant will require:

  • A Bachelor degree in Science or similar, or a Diploma level qualification preferably in Animal Technology or similar
  • Expertise in animal handling and use
  • Aseptic technique, preferably with experience in cell culture
  • Motivation to work both independently as well as in a small team environment
  • A calm and helpful individual with a mindset that values excellence (continuous learning and improving), efficiency, and attention to detail

Remuneration:
Salary range is $68,485 to $81,609 p.a. plus super and salary packaging. This is a full-time appointment for 1 year with possibility of extension. Requests for part-time appointments will be considered.
