About the job

The Fire Planner position focuses on developing and updating Fire Management Plans for SA Water's extensive landholdings. Collaborating with external stakeholders such as the Department for Environment and Water (DEW) and the Country Fire Service (CFS), this role aims to enhance fire management practices and reduce risks to the community. Responsibilities include refining the current Fire Management Plan template, aligning with the Bushfire Management Area Plan (BMAP), and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.

This role is available until June 30, 2025, offering a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and enhancing the current Fire Management Plan template
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to propose template improvements
  • Assessing all fire management information within SA Water
  • Developing updated plans using the new Fire Management template

Your success in this role will come from:

  • A comprehensive understanding of Fire Management Planning on Public Land in SA
  • Proven experience in crafting Fire Management Plans
  • Familiarity with relevant Acts and Regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with various contacts
  • An appropriate degree qualification or equivalent experience (preferred)
