Overview of the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Graduate Metallurgist to join the Nyrstar Port Pirie operations, commencing immediately.

The two year Graduate Program provides exposure to all aspects of the business and plant operations including:

  • Finance, Safety and Environment
  • Metallurgical Planning and Technical Projects
  • Rotations through the Smelter's pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical processes, including Top Submerged Lance (TSL) Furnace, Blast Furnace, Refinery, Zinc Slag Fuming and Copper Plants
  • Exposure to various operating styles with mentoring provided by Senior Plant Metallurgists and support from engineers and operators
  • Opportunity to grow with leadership training and ongoing technical professional education where available

This is a residential opportunity, based in Port Pirie, South Australia on a Monday to Friday roster. Relocation assistance will be provided to the successful candidate if required.

Qualifications, Skills & Experiences:

  • Completion of Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy degree or graduated in the past two (2) years (for immediate start)
  • Demonstrated experience in vacation work or post degree on-the-job experience is highly advantageous
  • Extra curricular activity involvement is highly adventageous
