Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Cisco Systems, Inc. Full time

Duo Security, now a part of Cisco, is the leading provider of Trusted Access security and multi-factor authentication delivered through the cloud.

Duo's mission is to make security simple for everyone. We were born from a hacker ethos and a desire to make the Internet a secure place. We believe in empowering people to follow their passions inside and outside of the office and enable every employee to bring their whole self to work.

Our team is our secret sauce. We run the spectrum from artists to analysts, low-key to high energy, and bring together a diversity of skill sets, experiences, and perspectives to solve what we consider to be the world's most pressing geopolitical challenge — transforming the security industry as we know it. Together we build solutions that are easy, effective, trustworthy, and enduring. And that's why we are the most loved and trusted company in security.

As a Senior Software Engineer on our Site Reliability Engineering team, you will develop software and tools to empower Duo's product development teams to run and maintain their services in production. You will collaborate with a wide range of internal partners to engineer automated solutions in an effort to remove toil and enhance stability for a variety of infrastructure, with an emphasis on scalability. You will face challenges that require an engineering mindset and a desire to automate everything possible.

Skills you have....

● You have architected cloud based services including infrastructure maintenance

● You have mentored more junior engineers in their technical skills

● You can run a meeting where the outcome is a technical decision made

● You have a history of writing performant, maintainable, testable code

● You enjoy reading and critiquing others code in code review

● You are passionate about automation and reducing toil

● You are committed to quality and experienced with modern software testing

practices

● You care about contributing to an amazing work culture and environment

● Prior experience with automated configuration tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef,

etc

● Prior experience in Infrastructure as Code in Terraform and running

● Prior experience writing web applications in Python

● Prior experience deploying cloud services, monitoring, alerting, and handling

escalations

● You have experience supporting a high-availability SaaS environment

● You work well in charting new DevOps practices without a well defined roadmap

Why you should apply....

● You've seen the news Cybersecurity is the biggest issue of our time and you

want to make a difference.

● You thrive having the autonomy to operate in a meaningful problem space solving real problems for real people

● You love collaborating with, teaching, and learning from high-performing peers on software projects

This job may not be for you if...

● You only code alone and aren't willing to mentor and be mentored.

● You lack a real passion for writing high-quality secure software that is backed by an equally mature approach to testing.

● You stress under the ambiguity of a problem and default to others to provide you with the answers.

● Your first instinct is to point out why something can't be done rather than focusing on what the customer problem is.

● You tire at the thought of a steady, deliberate pace in both a product and company.

If you're coming up short in these areas, but think you could still knock it out of the park, apply and tell us your story in an introductory letter.

Message to applicants applying to work in the U.S. and/or Canada:

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. The recruiter can share more details about compensation for the role in your location during the hiring process.

U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
