Talent Focus are seeking a passionate Buyer for one of Australia's largest Supply Chain Management company based in Inner-City Sydney.

Other desirable (but not essential) attributes:

  • Familiarity with the Australian & New Zealand beef processing sector
  • Existing networks amongst the beef packing and/or feedlot sectors
  • Knowledge of beef supply chain processes, including local and export
  • Onfarm/onplant/onfeedlot practical experience

Duties include:

  • Work with other members of the Procurement Team in the sourcing of raw material in all markets.
  • Oversee the daily management of at least one Aust/NZ domestic grinder as well as several Asianbased grinders

This includes:

  • Sourcing and purchasing the correct mix of manufacturing beef according to forecasts
- entering PO's

  • Sending confirmations to packers and grinders
- working with the Logistics department in arranging correct and timely road and sea freight deliveries

  • Communicating with support departments (Documentation/Transport Updates)
  • Help build and maintain relationships with our largest client.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with AUS & NZ beef processors (packers)
  • Build and maintain working relationships with AUS & NZ & Asian beef patty manufacturers (grinders)
  • Monitor market reports and identify key items to circulate internally & externally
  • Assist in the measurement and reporting of volume and price performance of the company
  • Work with the QA Manager as required, in the resolution of all quality claims, including correct funds transfer & any basic duties as required
  • Manage pricing and costing data
  • Develop proficiency in company logistics and data entry systems
  • Learn, understand and assist with export orders documentation generation and processing
  • Learn, understand and assist with domestic orders documentation generation and processing
  • Work with other Buy Team members to ensure domestic delivery schedules run smoothly
  • Be proactive in all communication with your designated grinders, get to understand them and their needs so you can assist in their production planning and scheduling
  • Become a trusted source of advice and guidance to your designated grinders
  • Develop an understanding of the market dynamics and contribute to discussions on buying strategy and pricing
  • Become proficient in monitoring broader market movements and identify any potential challenges
  • Assist in the production of market reports and other reports.
  • Assist the USbased team in any market reports and other analytical communications as required
  • Liaise with suppliers on quality problems in conjunction with company quality standards
  • Develop an understanding of the wider Australian beef industry and beyond that, the global protein markets and how they interact with each other
  • Travel, when required, either independently or with the Procurement Manager to Australian & New Zealand abattoirs and/or grinding facilities to develop relationships and deepen understanding of stakeholders operations and challenges
  • Be proactive in thinking through and suggesting solutions to supply chain challenges
  • Be proactive in the project management of any supply chain improvements, including your own suggestions.
