About Child Development Unit (CDU)


The WCH
Child Development Unit is a Developmental Assessment Service providing a multi-disciplinary approach to children with complex developmental concerns in three or more areas, and also provides support for their families.


The
Child Development Unit was established in 1981 at the Adelaide Children's Hospital to improve service provision to children referred with special needs, by strengthening partnerships between health, educational and welfare professionals from the hospital and community agencies, together with families.


The Unit is a collaborative interagency interdisciplinary developmental assessment and limited review service for children and their families, encompassing the principles of social inclusion.

The Unit provides a holistic, integrated, coordinated process, involving parents to ensure a family focussed, family centred approach.

An exciting opportunity exists for a
Consultant Paediatrician,
MD2 to join the
Child Development Unit (CDU) team on an
ongoing, part time contract.

The
Consultant Paediatrician is responsible for the provision of an effective and efficient medical service of the highest possible standard within the objectives and philosophies of the
Child Development Unit, Directorate of Allied Health, Complex, Sub Acute and Spiritual Care and the Women's and Children's Health Network.

They will provide medical care to outpatients, as well as develop education and research portfolios. They will encourage and support teamwork amongst staff for optimal clinical service outcomes.
