Closing Date: 12/03/2023- Job Type: Temporary- Location: Merewether- Job Category: School Support Staff (Ancillary)St Joseph's Primary School Merewether is seeking a Temporary Part Time Canteen Manager to join the team in 2023.

15 hours per week. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - at least 3 hours each day as this is when the canteen is open. The remaining hours for food preparation, ordering, rostering can be on the same days and/or other week days.

Situated near the city and beaches of Newcastle, Saint Joseph's Merewether has a rich historical and social fabric.

Located in an area known as The Junction, Saint Joseph's owes much of its ethos to the Sisters of Saint Joseph.

In the spirit of Mary MacKillop and Tenison Woods the school, in co-operation with the Newcastle parish, reaches out to bring purpose and meaning to its community in the light of the Gospel Values.

The Canteen Manager is responsible for the profitable management and operation of the school canteen according to the relevant policies, procedures and WHS legislation.

The Canteen Manager will support the development of strong relationships within the school community in particular with the students, parents and colunteers, teachers and other school personnel.

Desired Skills and Experience:

EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA

Canteen Manager Level 3A

• Experience in food preparation and service setting.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills particularly with children.
• De onstrated skills in operating a food business.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise a small team and to show appropriate initiative.
• Demonstrated time management skills and ability to control daytoday operations.
• Experience with volunteers and parent groups.
• Knowledge of basic financial management systems.
• Understanding of work health and safety and ability to meet legislative requirements.
• Experience in food safety and handling.
• Experience in formulating menus and promoting or marketing items on the menu.
• Highly organised and demonstrates initiative.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Food Supervisor Certificate or undertaking to complete the course within 2 years of employment
• Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2020.
