Seeking a Senior Technical Specialist to join the Digital Infrastructure Services team on a fixed term temporary full-time contract until 26 January 2025 to provide advanced expert technical advice and support in the establishment and maintenance of a governance and support framework for the Directories technology domains so that defined service levels can be maintained.

  • Lead a virtual Problem Management Team in accordance with the approved Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) Problem Management process.
  • Ensure compliance and optimal performance of enterprise service levels by managing and performing the dissemination and implementation of policies, processes and standards for technical configuration of the enterprise infrastructure.
  • Optimise costs of service delivery by designing and developing improvements in particular technology domains within the enterprise infrastructure.
  • Provide high level research and advice regarding emerging technologies to enhance the effectiveness of system design, management and support.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Proven ability to participate in and/or lead a highly skilled technical team providing high-level technical direction, standardisation and support of enterprise infrastructure in a large customer focused organisation. (SFIA Code: ARCH 5) (NHS: Leading Change through People)
  • Proven high level understanding and working knowledge of relevant technical domains (SFIA Code: TECH 5) ;
    • Cisco switches, routers troubleshooting and support;
    • Alcatel switches troubleshooting and support;
    • Load Balancing and Clustering, NAT;
    • LAN / WAN Layer2/Layer 3 routing protocols and configuration;
    • Configuration and support of Microwaves, FSO and Telecommunication carrier services; and
    • CWDM and DWDM products and principles.
  • Demonstrated high level analytical, conceptual and problem management skills with a proven record in the assessment and evaluation of technical requirements and systems within a complex information and communication technology environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in promoting and ensuring the use of appropriate techniques, within the technology sphere, to provide 3rd level support (SFIA Code: ARCH 5; METL 5; DESN 5).
  • Proven ability to manage and contribute to the development, publication, implementation, quality assurance and compliance to technical policies, standards and procedures at an enterprise level (SFIA Code: CNSL 5; EMRG 5, QUST 4; CORE 3; QUAS 5).
  • Demonstrated experience or the ability to quickly learn HP OpenView Service Centre application and ITIL Service Management processes, primarily Incident / Problem / Change / Configuration management. (SFIA Code: PBMG 5; CHMG 5; CFMG 5)
