UGL's utilities business undertakes essential design & construction services for critical infrastructure in the power and water sectors. Our end-to-end delivery ranges from transmission lines, switchyards, substations, electrical distribution through to water and wastewater treatment plants and water pipelines.

Our expertise includes the design, construct, commission, operate and maintain where our Utilities Team safely leads and delivers design & construct projects across Australia. Our project delivery extends to include short and long-term contracts either through self-performance works, working with Sub-contractors or through Joint Ventures. Our work spans from the engineering design through to structural, civil, electrical installation works and commissioning.

The Role

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Tender, Bid Manager. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate and manage the preparation of the tender and proposal submissions for projects in the Utilities Business and manage the process leading to proposal submission through to contract award.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the tender and proposal is submitted on time, within budget and in compliance with company policy and standard procedures.
  • Review tender documentation to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the technical and commercial commitments.
  • Conduct risk assessment and management activities to evaluate all commercial, financial, legislative and resource risk associated with the tender.
  • Provide regular reports and recommendations on the progress of the tender and proposal.
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with the customer at necessary levels within their organisation.
  • Identify the legislative, industrial, political, cultural, and economic environment within which the contract would be performed and the impact of this.
  • Coordinate the collation of information required to prepare the submission of the bid proposal, for example, finance, engineering, suppliers, human resources.
  • Coordinate the development, preparation, and issue of requests for quotation.
  • Review subcontractor submissions and evaluate their compliance, accuracy, and competitiveness.

About you

· Tertiary Qualification in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Project Management, Commerce).

· Extensive experience of bidding and business development.

· Knowledge of the Power and utilities industries.

· Demonstrated ability to engage with stakeholders

· Work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands

· Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, email
