  • Exciting opportunity to lead a team of dedicated software engineers
  • Attractive remuneration package between $130,000 to $150,000 fantastic benefits
  • Join a culture with a focus on professional learning and ongoing development

Who we are?

Hi there We are Scout Talent, and our passion is Talent Acquisition. Our Purpose is to connect people to grow companies, careers, and communities.

We're a fast-growing tech company providing recruitment software to more than 1200 organisations across Australia, NZ, Canada and the USA. We're growing revenue at a rate of more than 30% year-on-year, and we're a profitable, stable organisation.

We've built a strong culture from the ground up and sustained it for more than fifteen years. Our people are the foundation of our success, and we value and invest in them.

NetEngine is Scout Talent's Technology Division. Within NetEngine, we have squads of developers who work on our products (i.e., our Talent Acquisition SaaS modules), and we also have squads who build high-quality software products and apps for 'external' clients of all shapes and sizes. We create long-term partnerships with our internal and external stakeholders and build products with clear, effective user interfaces.

The opportunity

Introducing an exciting opportunity at NetEngine: combining a Senior Engineer's technical expertise with Solutions Architect's strategic insight. As a key team member, you'll connect development and strategic advising for clients, addressing their needs while elevating our technical excellence. Your developer background guides this role that resonates with growth-seeking developers. Join us to drive innovative solutions and impactful leadership, blending strategic insight with practical execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and guide the technical direction for our proprietary products, including the Scout Talent suite and Marketplace, as well as client projects.
  • Understand the intricacies of each project, define technical needs and allocate resources effectively.
  • Craft the overarching technical vision for projects, translating stakeholder briefs into comprehensive technical requirements covering everything from dev ops to design.
  • Identify and address skill gaps within our development team, actively participating in upskilling efforts.
  • Uphold stringent standards of security, identifying and mitigating risks proactively.
  • Oversee code quality, deployment, and project delivery, ensuring adherence to set standards.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable sounding board for the team, facilitating informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the Scout Talent Group (STG) leadership team, reporting to the Head of Product and Technology while closely working with NetEngine's Dev Team Leaders and Scout Talent's Product Owner.

Skills and Experience:

  • Expertise in technologies including React, React Native, TypeScript, Ruby on Rails, AWS, MySQL/PostgreSQL, rspec, and REST APIs.
  • A solution-focused, collaborative, and innovative mindset.
  • Leadership in technology strategy, process, and methodology.
  • Demonstrates a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Aptitude for building and nurturing high-performing technical teams.
  • Strong collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely, high-quality project deliveries.
  • Well-developed organisational abilities.

You will have a great time if you want:

  • Drive the technical trajectory of both our proprietary products and client projects.
  • Reengineer inefficient processes for improved effectiveness.
  • Lead and mentor developers, cultivating a culture of growth.
  • Enjoy substantial autonomy and responsibility for shaping outcomes.
  • Enjoy engaging with clients and help in crafting solutions
  • Values the role of representing our family of brands and looks forward to contributing to external communication platforms, such as webinars
  • Dive into hands-on work, engaging directly with teams, products, and stakeholders.
  • Adapt and learn swiftly to troubleshoot and clear roadblocks.
  • Work on mission-critical projects across diverse domains.

You may not have such a great time if you want:

  • To hand off the things you don't like to someone else
  • To work on just one project (this role will require the ability to shift focus between and manage different sets of requirements)
  • To work 'only' with developers (this role will require you to work cross-functionally across internal teams within STG, as well as speak with clients when your technical knowledge is required)
  • To work 100% remotely (we value in-office collaboration and want our leaders to be accessible and able to lead by example)

What you will get from Scout Talent Group:

This role comes with an attractive remuneration package between $130,000 to $150,000, commensurate with experience.

At Scout Talent, we're committed to looking after you. You will also have some great benefits, including (but not limited to):

  • Purpose-Driven Mission: Engage in meaningful work that shapes the future of HR-tech, recruitment-tech, and SaaS industries.
  • Industry Leaders: Positioned at the forefront of a booming HR-tech and SaaS sector, with two decades of proven stability and growth.
  • High-Performance Culture: Thrive in an environment where excellence is the norm, and each accomplishment is celebrated.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Benefit from a workspace that values teamwork, ensuring every voice is heard and every idea is valued.
  • Continuous Learning: Embrace opportunities to learn and grow, ensuring your skills evolve alongside the ever-changing tech landscape.
  • Stability Meets Opportunity: Join a 20-year-old robust business that not only has ridden the waves but has capitalised on industry tailwinds, ensuring job security and growth potential.
  • Competitive Compensation: Enjoy above-market average earnings, with profit share incentives rewarding those who drive our business forward.
  • Efficiency and Growth: As we prioritise productivity, your contributions lead directly to business growth, resulting in personal and professional advancement.

This role is your chance to define the future of STG's (and our clients') technical and strategic architecture, combining elements of a Technical Lead and Solutions Architect in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Your influence will be pivotal in attracting and retaining top developer talent, as they recognise your guidance as an opportunity for growth and learning. Join NetEngine and be a driving force behind innovative solutions and impactful leadership.
