About the role:


The configuration officer perform specialist activities responsible for establishing and maintaining consistency of multiple products performance, functional, and physical attributes with its requirements, design and operational information through management of baselines and change control to ensure that the product conforms to the specification as designed or modified.

The configuration officer will report to configuration manager and will engage with stakeholders, investigate, report, develop, evaluate, advise and implement policies, processes, procedures, practice and manage resources specific to assurance and data specifications to support Defence capability.


Role requirements:

  • Tailoring, implement and manage configuration management (CM)
Advising the Configuration Control Board (CCB) on matters pertaining to CM and projects/systems of CM transition requirements
Administrative support, including scheduling and preparing agenda/minutes
Registering and administering submitted Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and manage implementation of approved changes in association with system managers (SMs)
Continued amendment of active CM documents, including the Configuration Management Plan (CMP)
Managing Configuration Status Accounting (CSA) procedures
Managing Configuration Audits
Manage and audit all the registers of technical integrity
Manage security of all CM and CSA data (CM tools use access permissions)
Assist and manage ECPs end to end process
Maintain ECP register as ECPs change status
Creating tasks (e.g. CES, ILSI etc.) in CM tool
Report Functional Configuration Audit (FCA) and Physical Configuration Audit (PCA) status
Perform complex technical configuration activities and associated tasks working to agreed priorities and outcome.
Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, actively participate in team work and motivate and mentor developing technicians.
Tailor communication style and language to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Assess technical packages including scoping, planning and reviewing of packages and provide recommendations for consideration.

Assess technical packages, reports, processes and product and equipment performance to meet specified requirements, provide recommendations for continuous improvement and implement corrective actions.

Ensure safety aspects of Defence capability are considered and incorporated into technical configuration activities and tasks.
Manage technical knowledge of relevant processes, packages, product and equipment.

Skills & Experience:

  • Essential
At least 3 years experience in Configuration Management
Experience with both CMT-L (trained) and Objective
Experience in Auditing
Experience in conducting CCBs
Desriable
Lead Auditor training
Objective training as a Work Group Coordinator
