Our government-based client is looking for an APS 5 or APS 6 to join their team within the Disbursement section and the Levies and Innovation Policy section for a 12-month contract.

This position offers an opportunity to work on a once-in-a-lifetime reform of agricultural legislation.

Strong knowledge or experience in legislative reform, policy and legislation development, and legislative processes is highly desirable. The right person will have a background in law, along with a Baseline Security clearance.

The main duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the development of policy and legislation, particularly related to the disbursement of levy funds
  • Supporting the preparation of drafting instructions for the Office of Parliamentary Counsel for a new legislative framework
  • Reviewing existing legislation and any historical levies policies for new legislative frameworks
  • Supporting the preparation of internal and ministerial briefs, reports, and policies for review
  • Liaising with other policy, regulatory, and operational areas in the department and across government.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in a policy/ legislation reform including research and preparing to draft instructions and reports.
  • Either currently working within government or previous experience and must have a Baseline Security clearance
  • A law degree (desirable)
