North Queensland Region; Program Delivery & Operations; Infrastructure Management and Delivery; Cairns and Cloncurry The North Queensland Region includes the Far North, North West, and Northern districts, with offices in Cairns, Cloncurry, and Townsville.

It extends from the tip of Australia (including islands) west to Camooweal (NT border) and south to Home Hill.
The region seeks two District Directors for the Far North District (Cairns) and North West District (Cloncurry).
We are advertising for two District Director roles.

The District Director has three distinct roles:

  • State-Wid

Assist the Program Delivery and Operations Leadership Team (PDOLT) by delivering frontline QTRIP activities (engineering, inspection, preconstruction etc) within established frameworks.


Regional:
Reporting and advice to the Regional Director on operational delivery and collaboration with peers on regional functions.

District:

Leads the program, project, technical and business governance activities to ensure frontline delivery of the District Delivery Program to customer expectations.

District Directors may provide some services across the region.

The District Director is accountable for providing vision, direction and strategic leadership for Transport and Main Roads' business within their district.

This encompasses a diverse range of activities including but not limited to:

  • Providing leadership for local community and stakeholder engagement in relation to all operational delivery issues with a particular emphasis on construction and maintenance projects (including design), corridor management and support the State Network Operations team to deliver traffic (road) operations.
  • Managing the delivery of current and future planning projects for the transport system in the district ensuring delivery of value for money for planning projects.
  • Participating in the Regional Planning Coordination Group (RPCG) to ensure understanding of regional planning issues.
  • Maintaining an asset management function to ensure the effectiveness of the forward program and the ongoing performance of the network.
  • Contributing to the development of the QTRIP by providing the prioritised maintenance, preservation and operation works and minor capital works for inclusion within the program and ensure that the designated systems (i

Prima Vera and 3 PCM etc) are effectively used and updated for reporting.

  • Ensuring program and project commitments are delivered locally to achieve state-wide performance targets.
  • Acting as the "Principal Representative" for delivery of local infrastructure project contracts.
  • Managing all aspects of the district road corridor locally and partnering with Statewide Network Operations to ensure the network operates in a safe, efficient andreliable way.
  • Ensuring business service resources provided are used efficiently and flexibly to enable delivery of the district operational functions.

This role reports to the Regional Director (Northern Queensland Region).
The Far North District spans approx.
273,158 sq km (15.8% of Queensland), from the Torres Strait Islands to the Cardwell ranges and Croydon.
It has a population of around 282, % of Queensland) and features the Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics World Heritage sites, home to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

The North West District covers about 307,833 sq km (17.8% of Queensland), extending from the Gulf of Carpentaria to Kyuna and Torrens Creek to the NT border, with a population of about 35,327.
