About the Role
An excellent opportunity exists for a Teacher Librarian to join our team.

Teacher Librarians are responsible for the creation of an environment which will assist all members of the community to fullfill their spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical needs.

The Teacher Librarian works collaboratively with members of staff to ensure the resources and services support the teaching and learning programs.

This appointment is temporary to replace an employee who is leave or secondment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver relevant and flexible library and information literacy lessons appropriate to the students;
  • Actively engage students in the use of digital technologies;
  • Provide relevant resources for the classroom teachers and students, including ELC students;
  • Maintain a dynamic resource collection through selection, purchasing, weeding and stock take;
  • Actively promote knowledge of and passion for children's literature;
  • Promote participation in the Premier's Reading Challenge;
  • Collaborate with staff in the coordination of Book Week celebrations, Book Fair and Book Club organisations; and
  • Coordinate and oversee of Accelerated Reader Program.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a relevant Working with Children registration and Teaching Accreditation.
  • Must have completed relevant Education/Teaching tertiary qualification
  • Must have completed relevant Teacher Librarianship qualification

Selection Criteria

  1. Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage positively with colleagues, students, and parents;
  2. A high level of IT skills and an ability to communicate and upskill other staff in the use of new technologies.
  3. The capacity to be a proactive member of a professional learning community.
  4. Comply with classroom practices and display organisational skills that create supportive and safe environments for all students with a variety of learning needs;
  5. A thorough knowledge of the Australian Curriculum with the ability to organise, select and design content for effective teaching and learning including a comprehensive understanding of assessment and reporting strategies and the need to provide effective and timely feedback to parents and students;
  6. Skills in maintaining an efficient and thorough system of identifying, organising, circulating, and retrieving resources;
  7. Interest in developing knowledge of information, resources, technology, and library management, to provide quality reference and information services to the school community; and
  8. An understanding of library collection management including purchasing, budgeting, and culling to ensure a balanced and rich collection to meet the needs of students and staff.
