The Nepean Blue Mountains Health District offers a wide range of Medical Imaging (Radiology), Nuclear Medicine, and Nuclear Medical Therapy procedures through our various facilities/services with a goal to help diagnose, assess, and treat patient's injury or disease.

The Chief Radiographer for Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District is responsible for operational leadership and management of all radiography functions of the District. The Chief Radiographer provides leadership to the redevelopment planning process for Medical Imaging and leads the development of new models of care.

The role is based at Nepean Hospital and is responsible for direct operational management of all diagnostic radiography services at that site including line management of radiographers, sonographers, and technical assistants, as well as oversight of diagnostic radiograpgy services at Blue Mountains and Lithgow Hospitals. The role is supported by and line manages Chief Radiographers at Blue Mountains and Lithgow Hospitals, and the Assistant Chief Radiographer based at Nepean Hospital. Working collaboratively with the Business Manager and the Director, the Chief Radiographer is responsible for the operational and financial performance of the NBMLHD Diagnostic Imaging Service against key performance indicators.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Degree in Medical Radiation Sciences (Diagnostic Radiography) from an approved program of study. AHPRA registration and EPA licence. Substantial experience and strong management skills at a senior level in a Diagnostic Radiography context.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to inspire, motivate and grow staff, with proven ability to model the CORE values and drive a culture that promotes optimal patient experiences and outcomes, is culturally respectful and inclusive of diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills, and business acumen to drive excellence in clinical and financial performance. Ability to develop business cases and sustainable operating models.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with external service providers and contractors, and track record of managing contracts to deliver outcomes.
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering on strategic plans, leading projects across a service, and change leadership using recognised project and change management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage professional standards of the radiography workforce, and to represent radiography at internal and external forums.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships, influence and negotiate, and competent in the use of Information Technology and tools required for operation of a Medical Imaging Service.
  • Current Drivers' Licence (P2 acceptable) with ability to travel to sites across the District.
