Are you a qualified and experienced mechanic looking for a role with stability, excellent earning potential and to be part of a leading interstate general freight transport company throughout Australia, specialising in Road express? We are currently looking for a motivated and experienced Mechanic to join our team based in Welshpool, Perth. This is a full-time Monday to Friday role with a start time from 7am.

GKR Transport was established in 1985 and currently we have depots in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland. GKR specialises in the supply of transport, storage, and logistics services to a various range of industries. We have extensive experience in providing practical and affordable solutions to our clients in the automotive, industrial, heavy haulage, oil and gas, mining and manufacturing sectors.

About the role:

  • Servicing and completing repairs on American trucks, trailers and dolly's
  • Servicing and completing repairs on our fleet of rigid and road ranger trucks
  • Working in the Workshop, Yard and completing offsite breakdowns when required.
  • Ensuring all documentation is completed
  • Maintaining service records
  • Working with our workshop and ops team to maintain our fleet's high standard
  • Ongoing regular training provided
  • Ensuring the business in compliant with industry regulations.
  • Following company policies and procedures.

Do you have the following?

  • Over 2 years of experience as a Mechanic.
  • Heavy Diesel experience is beneficial.
  • Certificate 3 in Mechanics
  • Experience carrying out scheduled and general servicing on trucks and trailers of various makes and models.
  • Experience with both maintenance and repair work.
  • Experience in transmissions, suspension, steering and brake services.
  • Heavy vehicle licence desired but not required for the role
  • Forklift licence desired but not required for the role
  • Welding, oxi-cutting, light fabrication experience is desirable
  • The ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
