WHO WE ARE- Nyrstar Hobart is a large scale zinc smelter located on Hobart's River Derwent, only a few kilometres from the Tasmanian capital's charming and cosmopolitan city centre.- The facility uses the RLE process for zinc production. Hobart's key products are SHG zinc, die cast alloys and continuous galvanising grad (CGG) alloys. In addition, the site produces by-products of cadmium, copper sulphate, paragoethite, lead sulphate, leach concentrate and sulphuric acid.- This is a rare opportunity to work on site in the resources industry, in a capital city location.
THE ROLE

  • Based in Hobart, Tasmania and reporting to the Safety and Health Superintendent, you will be responsible for
  • Proactively engaging with workers to ensure they are fit for work and fit for life through development and implementation of wellbeing programs
  • Promoting the reduction of injuries at Nyrstar and by way of analysis of employee health issues, actively encourage our diverse workforce to be proactive about their wellbeing.
  • The effective rehabilitation and safe return to work of employees following either a workrelated or personal injury, illness or other adverse health effect.
  • In conjunction with our line managers, support the development and implementation of effective injury management, rehabilitation, and health and wellness programs at Nyrstar.

YOU

  • We'd love to chat if you have:
  • Relevant qualification in allied health, exercise physiologist, physiotherapist, nursing or similar
  • Injury Management Coordinator qualification is desirable or ability to obtain
  • Workplace Rehabilitation Coordinators Certificate is desirable or ability to obtain
  • Experience in the development and implementation of returntowork programs, or capacity to quickly obtain
  • Proven capacity to develop and implement health promotion based programs, or a strong interest in the same
  • Knowledge of Health Promotion strategies including Mental Health
  • Ability to coordinate medical surveillance and fitforwork programs
  • Demonstrated experience in Occupational Rehabilitation/Case Management
  • Working Knowledge of Tasmanian WH&S Act & Regulations (or equivalent national or New Zealand)
  • Working knowledge of Tasmanian Workers Compensation legislation (or equivalent national or New Zealand)
  • Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate with a diverse range of people and stakeholders
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise and selfmanage work tasks
