Transport and Main Roads (Organisation site ) Smart Service Queensland; Service Delivery & Operations; Queensland Government Customer & Digital Group; Brisbane CBD An exciting opportunity exists within Smart Service Queensland for a highly motivated and energetic Manager, Cyber Security and Assurance.

In this role, you will lead and develop our ICT security, risk, and compliance systems and processes, and oversee the quality assurance activities of all the applications/services developed/maintained by Smart Service Queensland.

Smart Service Queensland (SSQ) is the primary contact point for customers to access Queensland Government services, delivering over 260 services on behalf of the Queensland Government through multiple channels including phone, counter and online.

This role is pivotal in ensuring Smart Service Queensland maintains a secure and compliant environment through effective leadership of a multi-disciplinary ICT team that supports the ongoing operations and maintenance of applications in a 24/7 environment.


Key responsibilities include:

  • The team has two key responsibilities.
1) Cyber Security within Smart Service and 2) Assurance, which is assuring that ICT systems are well tested.

  • Manage and develop the ICT security and compliance program of work for Smart Service in order to provide a clear direction in relation to ICT security, risk & compliance.
  • Develop, review and update ICT security related policies, processes and procedures to ensure that Smart Service remains up-to-date with Queensland Government policies, industry best practice and emerging cyber security risks.
  • Develop and schedule the program of work for risk and compliance (e.g.
ICT baseline, security tests, annual software audits), for the ICT area, to ensure ongoing business functions and projects are completed in line with overriding standards.

  • Identify, evaluate and analyse risks, for ICT systems, and assist with the generation of solutions, to support the ongoing functioning and minimisation of risk.
  • Oversee the procurement of ICT tools for Security and Assurance to support the ongoing delivery of ICT projects and operations.
  • Manage the Security and Assurance team, including recruitment and selection, coaching and development of staff in order to achieve established outcomes for the group
  • Manage and lead the ICT security and assurance activities for any new ICT initiatives or significant ICT changes throughout Smart Service
  • Manage vulnerability management function within Smart Service and provide authoritative advice and guidance on mitigating strategies Applications will remain current for 12 months.
