Based at the Scoresby Manufacturing site the Quality Manager is accountable for coordinating and facilitating the quality and continuous improvement practices across the Scoresby business.

Working under the direction of the National Quality Manager this role will address quality concerns and implement solutions that lead to customer satisfaction and significantly reduce plant costs.


Reporting to the National Quality Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing a technical understanding of product quality and variability in order to assist in improving processes to reduce impact on operational stability and identify opportunities to reduce impact to customers and overall manufacturing cost.
  • Supporting cost reduction initiatives by improving quality and reducing NCR cost year on year by learning and participating in root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Advancing overall reduction in waste by supporting QA/CI initiatives.
  • Contributing to improving plant throughput and operational efficiency by participating in value stream maps, assisting in determining bottlenecks, inventory and WIP opportunities as well as assisting in developing standard work for all levels within the operation.
  • Developing sound working knowledge of QA/CI System and documentation practices including audit and accreditation requirements and support the ongoing accreditation of Opal.
  • Conducting audits with the objective of increasing the time between audits to reduce overall cost of accreditation.
  • Supporting the interface between operations and the customer to build strong relationships. There will be interaction with customers as required and directed by the Operations Manager and the Regional Quality Manager.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing role or similar.
  • Understanding of Corrugated Fibre Packaging and Technical Knowledge of product.
  • Ability to motivate, coach and mentor.
  • Understanding of Opal's OHS&E standards, and responsibilities under OHS &E legislation.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong project management and time management skills.
  • Experience in facilitating training.
  • Experience in delivering sustainable Cl projects within manufacturing.
