About The Role


If you are looking to access a role that is going to challenge and reward you, then you are in the right place.This NHS 111 Call Handlers' training will allow you to progress in your career as Health Advisor, working alongside a very diverse, inclusive and fun team, dedicated to support the NHS 111 service and provide first point of care to our patients when they're at their most vulnerable.

We can currently offer one of the following arrangements:

  • early evenings
  • 2-day weekend

You will need to invest a minimum of 16 hours.

Please note:If you require hours ofmore than 24 hours per week, including full-time roles (37.5 hours), wemaybe able to accommodate you,if you are happy to work more weekend hours (this may mean working every weekend and taking days off during the week)

You will complete a number of NHSPathwaysand NHS 111 service specific courses to become a licensed operator working within the live service.


We offer part-time, classroom-basedPathway and Adastratraining over a 6.5 week period on:Saturday & Sunday (9am-5pm), + Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (5pm-9.30pm)

Our next available date is Saturday 27th July 2024

The trainingis paid at £11.48 per hour.Attendingevery training day is essential.

Upon completion, you will receive a further eight weeks' support before you are signed off as a fully accredited/licensed Pathways Health Advisor.

What you'll be doing

Role and responsibilities of NHS 111 Health Advisor include:

  • Answer and respond to incoming calls to the IUC/NHS111 service from members of the public, healthcare practitioners or other professionals.
  • Triaging patient calls using the appropriate Pathways system, ensuring Pathways is followed and the correct advise and outcome is selected.
  • You will accurately record and check or amend details on the call logging computer system.
  • Always maintain a calm and professional manner,dealing with callers with empathy and understanding.
  • Support the safeguarding of individuals following local protocols and standards.
  • Relate to others in ways which support rights, inclusion and wellbeing of individuals, supporting individuals to keep themselves safe.
  • You will also have the opportunity to develop your career, specialising in different areas within the IUC department within NHS 111, we are always offering support to those who want to take that next step and develop their career
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK and over 18 years of age

We are looking for candidates who have the following:

  • Excellent customer service experience from a telephone or face to face role
  • Strong communication, listening and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage completing priorities
  • You must be passionate about high quality patient care and be caring and able to remain calm when working under pressure
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to listen and record information accurately
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Flexible approach to work and work well in a team
  • Competent in the use of IT systems and keen to learn new skills
  • Good all round education GCSE at Grade 4 or equivalent and must include English
