Monash Health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing over 25,500 people across a range of specialities. Our Medical Education team ensures the delivery of excellent education and training for our early career doctors. As the result of a promotion, a key leadership role within the team is now available. We are looking for a creative thinker with significant education expertise, to take on this critical role, to be appointed on a permanent basis. We can appoint to the position between four and five days per week (Mon-Fri) and we are happy to consider applications from candidates who wish to retain either teaching or clinical responsibilities.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Monash Doctors' Education, this is a critical role within the team to foster excellence in medical education. The Medical Education Unit (MEU) collaborates closely with junior doctors to optimise their training and also works with our Nursing Education and Allied Health teams to provide inter-professional education. Key result areas for the position include:

  • advancing the quality of medical education across Monash Health;
  • collaborating with key stakeholders to deliver innovative, high-quality projects, education programs, events and resources;
  • ensuring we maintain accreditation as a provider of prevocational training;
  • leveraging technology as appropriate to optimise learning and program evaluation; and
  • effective direct management of a small team.

This role demands an adaptable and flexible individual who can effectively balance strategic and tactical initiatives in a fluid environment. While classified as HS5 under the Managers and Administrative Workers Award, an attractive salary, including an Over Award component, will be negotiated with the successful applicant. Potential also exists for appointment under the health professions Award and/or adjunct academic appointment.

About You

With qualifications in education, preferably with health sector experience, you can demonstrate deep pedagogical expertise. You may be a senior health professional from a variety of clinical backgrounds, or hold teaching qualifications supported by significant management experience. In any event, you have a track record of leadership and innovation, involving delivery of high quality educational programs via a range of modalities, as well as program evaluation. On a personal level, you are an innovative thinker who frequently explores opportunities to "re-engineer" the way things are done, where change is warranted and will deliver enhanced outcomes. Your core attributes include outstanding leadership, communication, collaboration, project management and organisational skills, enabling you to build and develop excellent working relationships. Demonstrated expertise in health professions education research, graphic design and operational management will be highly regarded.
