About the role


The Early Years Support Officer will develop and implement the program objectives by working in partnership with an interdisciplinary team and key external stakeholders.

Central to the role is providing support to a cluster of early years agencies, using place-based 'whole of organisation' collaboration within Melbourne's west metropolitan area and Geelong to facilitate increased and sustained inclusion of families from refugee backgrounds.


This includes professional learning activities to build the capacity and skills of early years professionals, programs to increase the capacity of newly arrived communities to support children and to engage with early years services as well as collaborative, place-based partnerships and the development of resources.

Key responsibilities

  • Work within the established VFST framework to facilitate positive change
  • Collaborate with Foundation House teams and other stakeholders to document, develop and implement effective resources and strategies
  • Support agencies to participate in meaningful community engagement strategies, monitoring changes with cycles of continuous improvement utilising the Best Start approach
  • Provide secondary consultation and referral advice to early years professionals working with children and families in varied settings
  • Develop and facilitate activities (i.e., the establishment of Community Advisor Groups) to increase the capacity of newly arrived communities of refugee background to support children and to engage meaningfully with early years services.
Salary and benefits


Remuneration is based on our Enterprise Agreement 2014 of $101,250 gross salary per annum, plus 17.5% leave loading and 10.5% superannuation.

Additional benefits include salary packaging up to $18,550.
