About the Role

As a Residential Support Worker, your role involves providing care and support to children under the care of Life Without Barriers. This is a fulfilling opportunity to positively impact the lives of children in our Out of Home Care Program. You will work in a family group home in Kalgoorlie alongside a dedicated team focused on the well-being of our young clients.

You should have experience with children who have faced challenging situations and may exhibit difficult behaviors at times.

You will receive support from a team of caregivers and continuous training.

Permanent full-time contracts are available

Dayshifts and occasional overnight or weekend coverage are required

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide quality support to children based on their needs and care plans
  • Assist with daily activities in a home environment such as preparing meals, helping with school tasks, and engaging in recreational activities
  • Establish positive relationships with children and families to achieve favorable outcomes
  • Create and implement programs in consultation with relevant parties to support the children
  • Adapt LWB services as needed to address the evolving needs of the children
  • Maintain detailed progress notes

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate in Community or Children's Services (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Connect with children through sports, games, and shared interests
  • Hold a valid Senior First Aid Certificate or be willing to acquire one
  • Possess an unrestricted Driver's License
  • Dedication to supporting the unique needs and goals of individuals
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with various stakeholders
  • Capability to engage with diverse cultural groups and respect cultural differences

Selected candidates must pass background checks, including National Criminal History Record, Working with Children, and Child Protection Clearances.
