Overview


This position provides an opportunity for suitably experienced prevocational Trainee to work as a Registrar in Paediatrics; with rotations available to Paediatric Emergency Medicine, General Medicine/Perinatal Medicine, as well as relieving and after hours rotations.

These rotations will be Women's and Children's Hospital, Lyell McEwin Hospital or Flinders Medical Centre.


This provides a unique opportunity to work in paediatrics including exposure to acute paediatric medicine based medical environments, contributing to the provision of clinical services to inpatients and outpatients.

The prevocational Registrar is expected to actively participate in clinical teaching and associated research projects.

Please note it is not possible to enter RACP Training via this pathway for 2023. Application for entry in to training as a first year trainee have closed.

If you have a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) or equivalent, and are Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration, and have the following experience:

  • At least 12 months satisfactory experience (including paediatric medicine) after completion of the postgraduate year 1 in a recognised teaching hospital;

Women's and Children's Hospital provides state of the art health care for women and children in Adelaide and South Australia.


It is the state's leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions and SA's largest maternity and obstetric service.

It also provides important community-based services.

Each year, more than 30,000 people are admitted and about 5000 babies are born at the hospital. In addition more than 250,000 people come to the hospital as outpatients.

The hospital has 295 beds. The hospital's paediatric and adolescent wards cater for all paediatric specialties. Women's wards provide antenatal, gynaecology, neonatal and postnatal care.
