Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners eligible for registration in New South Wales for the above position within Central Coast Local Health District CCLHD Sexual Assault Service (SAS).

The role will participate in the CCLHD SAS after-hours and weekend roster to provide comprehensive medical and forensic care to adults and adolescents who have been sexually assaulted and referred or present to the CCLHD Sexual Assault Service.

Applicants should be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners and/or have obtained other specialist recognition as provided for in the Visiting Medical Officer Determination


Central Coast is comprised of the twin areas of Gosford and Wyong, positioned between Sydney and Newcastle, which are collectively expected to grow from the current approximate 300,000 to 450,000 population before 2030.

The Local Health District has strong connections with both Royal North Shore Hospital and the University of Newcastle.

This position has obligations to Gosford Hospital under Sessional arrangements. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Visiting Medical Officer Determination.

  • Applicants should be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners and/or have other specialist recognition as provided for in the Visiting Medical Officer Determination. Registered or able to be registered in Australia, inclusive of an unrestricted 19AB exempted provider number
  • Experience working in a field where proficiency in the assessment of common gynaecological conditions is required, examples include (but are not limited to) General Practice, Sexual Health, Family Planning, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Emergency Medicine
  • Availability to participate in the afterhours sexual assault roster with a minimum of 4 shifts per month including at least one weekend shift.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development.
  • Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain this licence.
  • Demonstrated understanding of how the district is Caring for the Coast and how this role would contribute
